Busy busy summer

You would not believe how busy I have been this summer. How busy I still am. My time is mostly filled with fun and interesting stuff, but it does lead to less blogging then I would have liked. Anywhoo, here’s to more updates again. 🙂

Fun news, my stepbrother is getting married this weekend, and I have dyed my hair again in celebration:

I am very excited for the wedding, so I felt I needed an explosion of colour to signify that. I’m not going to re-bleach my roots, I like that my natural colour is coming out again. I still have more than enough bleached hairs that I can colour and re-colour in all of the pastels and extreme tints.

I made a communte drawing again! In a facebook conversation that turned to who of us would be which avenger I said I was the Hulk, and a friend of mine said someone else had already claimed that role. I responded thusly:

Me: WE CAN HAVE MORE THAN ONE HULK, YOU HULK-BIGOT

Me: ARMY OF HULKS

Me: HULK AND THE HULKETTES

Me: Whoop lost my cool there for a moment.

Sometimes I do things just to amuse myself. I think I myself laughed the hardest. In the train I then drew this:

Eefje-Hulk! I still need to learn how to do patterned clothing better, so that’s a thing I want to improve. I enjoyed drawing in the train again. I’ve lately been knitting and crocheting and sometimes reading, and my commute is not endless. (Thank God.)
But I will start drawing again now.

I’m also thinking about resurrecting the I found a bookmark project, since I did really enjoy it even though I was sad all the bookmarks went missing and that I didn’t get much response. I’m thinking of changing the workflow a little though. I have such a large to read pile at home that adding library books to that would not be smart. So I will just check which of the books I’m going to read are also in the library and put the bookmark in there. And perhaps start with making a couple of bookmarks for books I’ve recently read, so that I can start with a bang and not have the readers of the blog (few though they might be) having to wait ages between posts.

In which the commute drawings are back with a vengeance

Trying out some of the new sketchbooks! I think I will keep using the Daler Rowney for my commute drawings.

Sunday: A new imaginary polaroid! The sunny weather makes me want to sit in the park. This is the first page I did in the new Daler Rowney sketchbook that I got this weekend. The paper picks up pencil like crazy, it’s great! My H2 graphite pencil is a lot darker here then I am used to, but that’s okay. And a little bit of water colour pencil goes a long way here. I’m excited to get to know this paper better.

Monday: Yoda! I wanted to see how the thin clairefontaine sketchbook took to my aqua markers. Not that well, it’s too much water. So I stopped adding wrinkles (Yoda should have more) to keep him from getting too messed up.

Tuesday: Imaginary polaroid of an umbrella. I posted this late tuesday night because I had forgotten my iPad so I couldn’t share it from the road.

Wednesday I didn’t make a commute drawing because I was finishing watching an episode of The Wire in the train. (yay for iPads!)

Thursday: Apple imaginary polaroid. Todays #commutedrawing might be a poison apple, but it sure it pretty.

In which you get to see an illustration and a link to the newest issue of The Anglerfish

Jennifer

My illustration of Jennifer Lawrence for the newest issue of The Anglerfish! It is the illustration for an article called Jennifer Lawrence Stands Up For You, about body image and misrepresentation in the media. Jennifer Lawrence speaks up about these things, loving her body and loving food. So I gave her a pizza halo. 🙂 She likes pizza, nerdfighters like pizza, I like pizza, it seemed logical to me!
Go check out the issue! It’s full of Hunger Games awesomeness and other things.

Do you like this illustration? Let me know in the comments! I’m also thinking of using this type of headlines for my posts more often, like the chapter descriptions in old adventure books. “In which our hero discovers an evil plot and tries to warn the Countess” So let me know what you think of that too.

Museum Gathering

And I am back with yet more pictures of a Nerdfighter gathering! In march we went to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, and I brought my Olympus Trip (with the same Ilford roll as the pictures from my last post) and also my digital DSLR. Outside the weather was beautifully sunny, so I took a lot of pictures while we were waiting for everybody to arrive and also when we had finished with the museum and went outside to catch some rays again.

Here are the analog pictures! I’ll post the digital ones later this week. 🙂
